What you know about the end-times effects how you live in these present times!

I recently heard Kris Vallotton say something similar to this: If I had an awesome car that needed refurbishing and I took it to the shop and told them that I need the best of the best done on this car...I want it just like new, but then I informed them that I was fixing it up to drive in a demolition derby, do you understand that they would work on that car differently than if they knew I was going to keep it nice in my garage and only drive it on sunny days to car shows?
He said this to help us to understand that what we know about the end or the outcome will effect the way that we live.
I was taught a futurist view of the end times and I have to say that for 30 something years that has greatly affected how I have lived my life and how I have related to others about their lives and choices. I have recently learned about something called apostolic eschatology and I read a book called VICTORIOUS ESCHATOLOGY by Harold Eberle and Martin Trench. I have to say that it gave me the missing links in all I have learned over the last 3 or 4 years about the Kingdom of God, God's real intentions toward us/me, and how I should be living my life. It is another GLORY in my glory to glory journey and I am elated!
I could not help but to share with you this information! I know that we all have to seek God for ourselves, and many will not receive this as important, but that does not diminish my need to share it with you.
The beginnings of the futurist view of the end times started simply with a vision by a 15 year-old and a footnote in the Scofield Bible. I find that Mr. Eberle and Mr. Trench, along with research in some historical volumes lead me to make a total change of heart and once again I am FREE from what I consider to be wrong teaching, made huge by the enemy to keep me/us living in fear and not truely resting in the goodness of God and the glorious future that we have with Him for eternity!
I got my book from Amazon.com. I hope you will get it and see what you think!
God wants you free!
Here's a small excerpt:
When Jesus came, He brought in the new kingdom. He established the new covenant. The Temple was destroyed. The old religious system ended. The end of the old came in the first century. That was the end-times. It ended the old. The end-times was the period in which God abolished the old by establishing the new. It went from the day Jesus revealed Himself as Messiah to the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem in A.D. 70. The apostles were not wrong. They did live in the end-times. We live in new times! In a new kingdom and a new covenant!
Blessings,
Teresa
P.S. I also heard some time back that John the Baptist losing his head in a time when crucifixion was the execution of choice was not by chance. It symbolized the end of an old way of thinking. Jesus was crucified on Golgotha, aka the place of the skull, representing that believers now have the mind of Christ. Jesus came with a government on His shoulders...so many things make such better sense to me now!
